“I’ve enjoyed running as long as I can remember. When I was at school I found it was a good way to stay fit, and I enjoyed the social and competitive aspect with the school running team.

I didn’t run often in my first couple of years at university but I got to a point where I felt like I needed a new challenge. I entered the Taranaki Cut A Trail Half Marathon and almost immediately and Dad put me in contact with his workmate Andy Dawson so that I could run with the Taranaki trail runners while I was at home for the summer. Meeting a whole new ever-expanding group of people who all enjoy running was amazing and exactly what I needed and I was so inspired by everyone’s experiences.

Trail running definitely puts me in a good mood and allows me to unwind, while at the same time challenging both my body and mind. I think that’s why I run and what makes it so addictive!”
