MISSION TWO : 8th February 2026
Ten runners taking on the “Little Kepler” this time, five each in the helicopter to Luxmore Hut. Thanks to a shortcut courtesy of Fiordland Helicopters, the full 60km Kepler Track now reduced to to 38km – Luxmore Hut to Rainbow Reach, including the insanely beautiful and remote sections of alpine ridge lines and 360 degree Fiordland views.
Four of us from Run Club (Hunter, Nathan, Ellen and myself) started earlier, hiking the Luxmore Grunt to rendezvous with the Heli up top… which meant this time I could carry up my big camera! The weather changed a dozen times while we waited near the top heli-pad, but eventually the whole crew were deployed and set off on their way.
