“Well I was always okay at running during school, but never really took it seriously. It wasn’t until my flatmate Sagar in Queenstown convinced me I could do a marathon that I actually started training. We had 12 weeks to get ourselves ready for the Motatapu Offroad Marathon and let me tell you, 12 weeks was not long enough!
I finished the race and was almost more skeptical about running. But the following year my husband decided we should do the Motatapu again. This time I decided I was going to do it right. We trained in the hills of Dunedin and I took a whole 100mins off my time. I was so stoked, the flame had ignited.
Now I am training for the Coastal Ultra this April. I’ve pushed my boundaries mentally and physically with running. Running has almost become a meditation for me, just out in my own wee world, my only concern is me and the trail ahead. And that’s why I run.”
