A rare mid-winter event in the deep south, this race is well supported by Te Anau locals, as well as a good number of runners travelling from Dunedin, Queenstown and Invercargill. Despite the leisurely and late 10am start, it was still icy cold standing next to the river waiting to get underway. Not for long though, the first hill warms you up pretty smartly!

Following the Lake2Lake Trail at the foot of the Kepler Mountain, the point to point course heads north to the Te Anau township and the Yacht Club finish line. The trail, built to accomodate users on two wheels or two legs, is pretty smooth and runnable throughout, although definitely not flat!

Wonderful to see so many local and Queenstown friends out running and walking the event, a fundraiser for the Trails Trust. Seeing our Kepler legend Irene Barnes standing on the finish line handing out medals was big highlight too.

A few photos of RunnersNZ crew I managed to catch on the finish line. Excellent as always catching up. Congrats everyone!
