“My running journey began with a desire to lose weight and get fit. After the birth of my second child I took up the Couch to 5km program and worked my way up to 5km, then 10km. After my third child I started all over again and worked my way up to the half marathon distance. I haven’t stopped running since!
As well as experiencing the physical benefits of running, I’ve also come to appreciate the mental benefits that come alongside this. Being fit and healthy is now my ultimate goal – a strong body leads to a strong mind!
It’s also my ‘me-time’, my escape from the grind of the everyday-ness of motherhood and working life.
Running now is part of my everyday life; four or five times a week I will lace up and head out for a run. I love to run out on the trails on my own, soaking up the green-ness of nature, the bird song, the cool, fresh air. I equally love to run with others, getting to run and socialise at the same time is the best.
The past few years have also been transformative for me as I’ve become a lot more involved in my local running community – helping and encouraging others to get into the sport of running. I’ve discovered that this is my passion, and now have several roles, both paid and as a volunteer, in the industry and I love it!”
