“My running journey started at the age of 16, inspired my Dad and a want to improve my fitness for hockey.
It seemed like every weekend in our teenage years we were travelling hours in the car to be Dad’s support crew as on the side-lines of events. Realistically it was probably only 5 weekends a year but it seemed never-ending at the time!
So, my running story started with 2km runs alongside Dad to the ‘top of the road’.
Nowadays I have another mad runner to inspire me, my husband Tom. Tom’s newly found love for running and dedication to training has given me a new motivation – trying to keep up! I love trail running with Tom and seeing sights, and heights, we wouldn’t otherwise see.
17 years later I no longer play hockey but running has remained my faithful stress release. I’ve completed a few half-marathons and tried my hand at a bit of trail running but along the way I’ve learnt my love for running sits in the sense of freedom. I love running best when I have no objective of time or distance but instead just allow my feet to lead me as far as they want to go.”
