“Running has always been a part of my life. During my younger days it was something I would love to do in my spare time, and in those days 10km was more than enough for me.
Fast forward now and 10 km is just a warm up for me. Over the last two years I managed to have established myself from running a 12km, to a Half Marathon, a Full Marathon, my first 50km Ultramarathon, and straight into running Tarawera Ultramarathon 102km – all within one year. Now I’m running another 102km in February 2021 at Tarawera as a training run for my preparations for the Tarawera 100 miler in 2022. That is my ultimate goal – to become a Miler runner.
My Why? Heaps to tell but let’s say I’m not there yet because I’m still pushing my limits in the world of endurance sports and especially Ultra running. I love to challenge and test myself on how far I can go, how far your mind can mentally sustain the brutality of pain; how you transpose that pain into positivity when there is nothing left in you and all you have is your heart and soul to get you to the finished line. Those are the moments I live and strive for – the true test of your character and the person you are challenging within to overcome obstacles… not only in running but life in general.”
